Design Meaning
This design is inspired by the relationship that Mothers have with their children, however, on a more personal note the relationship that I have with my mother. The first negative space line that you can see that separates the inner design with the outer patterns is the mother and the Koru which is the central design, is the child. If you look closely there is a connection at the top of the koru into the mother which represents nourishment and the physical origin of the child. The surrounding patterns and designs help define the importance of the mother and her child. There are also noticeable similarities between the mother and the child which symbolises the deep connection that every mother has with her child and how this is perpetuated in every generation represented by the lines in this design.
